Three Moments That Moved Me: The Power of Meaningful Connection

1. A Hug That Said Everything

I was recently spending time with one of the seniors I support, and at the end of our visit, she gave me a hug. But it wasn’t just a quick embrace—it was one of those long, lingering hugs that says more than words ever could. She held on, and I let her.

There was something in that silence. It reminded me that showing up—just being there—is sometimes the most valuable thing we can offer. Gentle connection is powerful. It stays with you.

2. A Stranger Turned Hype Girl

This month, I was invited to do a video interview for an award I’ve been nominated for (which still feels surreal to write). I showed up nervous, unsure, and a little in my head. But then I met another nominee in my category. You can see her very talented work here: https://www.artbyhollyryan.com/

She didn’t know me, and I didn’t know her—but in minutes, she became my hype girl. She was kind, encouraging, and full of good energy. And honestly? It completely shifted how I felt walking into that interview.

She probably had no idea how much that meant to me—but I’ll never forget it.

3. Wisdom Between Washes

Every time I get my hair done, it ends up being more than just a refresh. It becomes a space for real conversation. Not small talk—the real stuff. We share the highs and lows, trade stories, ask each other for advice, and hold space for whatever’s going on in life.

It’s a reminder that the power of meaningful connection can show up in the most ordinary places—like over a sink and a blow dryer.

When I think about these moments, it really hits me how important those everyday connections are. Whether it’s a hug, a little encouragement, or just a real conversation, it all comes down to being present with each other.

Here’s another human I’m totally connected to—my nephew, who shows his love with a big, slobbery kiss. It’s these little things that remind me how powerful true connection can be.
